Why it works across any distance
A boxed calendar has to be posted weeks ahead and can get lost or held at customs. A digital one is a link you send in a message. It opens in any browser, on Android or iPhone, with nothing to install, so it works the same in another city, another country or another time zone.
Each day opens at midnight wherever they are, not where you are. If you’re eight hours apart, their window is still waiting for them when they wake up, and they can’t open tomorrow’s by changing the clock.
Make it sound like you
Distance makes text feel thin. That’s why the best long-distance calendars lean on voice and video: a voice note of up to a minute, or a round video that plays like a short video call. Hearing you say good morning does more than any chocolate.

Recording tips
Record somewhere quiet and hold the phone close. Don’t aim for perfect: a laugh in the middle or a train going past makes it sound like you were really there. If a recording doesn’t feel right, record it again before you send the calendar, or later for any day they haven’t opened yet.
Send it before 1 December
Fill the calendar on your phone or computer, then send the link in your usual chat. You can see which days they’ve opened, and if you start late, the days that have already passed open at once.
Questions
Does it work if we live in different countries?
Yes. The calendar is a link that opens in any browser, and each day opens at midnight in their time zone.
How long can voice notes and videos be?
Up to 60 seconds each. Videos play as a circle, like a short video call.
Will I know when they open a day?
Yes, you see which days they’ve opened. When a window asks a question, you also see their answer.
Can I include a real present?
Yes. Post it ahead and add a real-gift window with a hint, such as “check your mailbox”. They tap “I found it” when it arrives.
